Elsewhere on the site I have pages where you can flip through sets of digital flashcards, but if you’d like to use them in a more effective way, I recommend using an app on your preferred device. An app can randomize the cards in an optimal order for memory retention, as well as learning which cards you already know and showing them to you less often. Most of all, it will show the cards in a random order, which helps you embed the knowledge deeper in your brain.
I use iOS because my techy boyfriend always buys Apple phones and I get dibs on his hand me downs. It’s cheaper and I ruminate less on the poor children digging rare earth minerals out of the ground in toxic conditions.
The app I’ve been using is Flashcards – Study & Create. The full version is inexpensive compared to other flashcard apps, and it has a pretty straight forward spreadsheet upload for the flashcards.
If you know of another app that allows images on the cards and spreadsheet import/upload, share an example of how the spreadsheet needs to be formatted in the comments. If I get some time to tinker I will do my best to make a version for you.
I’m also at least intending to keep this page updated with future flashcard sets, so it might be worthwhile to bookmark this page if you like my digital flashcards and find them useful.
